Sergei Mironov Visited V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute

On June 1, 2010 the Chairman of the Council of Federation Sergei Mironov visited V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute at the invitation of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, where he was shown works by its senior students and graduates. Sergei Mironov also got acquainted with the work of the painting and sculpture workshops and had a meeting with teachers and students of the Institute.

He thanked the teachers’ staff and students for preservation of traditions of Russian art and told them about his decision to award an annual grant of the Chairman of the Council of Federation to the five students whose works he had appreciated as the best. “The state must support young gifted artists who by their work and talent will be able to bring fame to our country in the future” – said Sergei Mironov in conclusion.
